Avi Bortnick built the On Foot app as a commercial app. This service is provided by Avi Bortnick and is intended for use as is.
On Foot is a simple, standalone step counter designed to be private by default. It works completely offline, does not require an account, and does not connect to any servers or external databases of ours.
On Foot can count steps entirely on its own. As an option, in Settings you may choose to sync with your device's built-in health and fitness service — Apple Health (HealthKit) on iOS, or Google's health and fitness service on Android — so your step counts stay consistent with the rest of your device.
When you enable this, On Foot reads step data from that service on your device. On Foot does not upload or share this data. However, Apple Health and Google's health services are operated by Apple and Google under their own privacy policies; any collection or syncing those platforms perform (for example, across your devices or to their cloud) is governed by their terms, not by On Foot. You can turn this option off at any time in Settings, after which On Foot simply counts steps on your device.
Your data stays on your device. Because On Foot does not transmit or store it elsewhere, it is never exposed to us. As with any software, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of data held on your device.
On Foot is not directed at children under the age of 13. Because the app does not collect or transmit personal information, it does not knowingly gather data from anyone, including children.
